We continue our day with Zone 7 at Le Maître du Jeu in Gatineau. In this scenario, the government secretly operates an underground biological lab. A serious accident occurs in one of the zones, causing a gas leak in the ventilation system. The air is rapidly contaminated across all sectors, and in 60 minutes, the staff will suffer from a deadly paralysis. The team in Zone 7 is spared, as they are located in a highly sophisticated room where experiments on infections and airborne transmissible toxins are conducted. The artificial intelligence detects movement in your sector and transmits the survival plan to your team. You must first create an antidote gas that will neutralize the deadly paralyzing gas. Then, you need to access the electrical room to manually open the containment unit for the Central Ventilation System Console (CVSC). Finally, you must find a way to eliminate the deadly gas by evacuating the air from the lab and releasing the airborne antidote with the help of the CVSC. Before starting the escape game, the story and rules are explained in a video on a TV in a room separate from the game. The scenario is very precise and detailed but we thought it was missing a unique twist. However, all the steps and goals of the game are very clear and understandable.

The decor in this escape room is basic, as there’s nothing impressive or incredible and it is worn in some places. There are several rooms, the first one is large but the others are quite small. We were also missing music. You have to bring your personal belongings into the room, because they aren’t offering lockers outside the room. Unfortunately, we thought that the immersion needed some work.

The puzzles in this room are very difficult. There are a lot of them, and they are all theme-related. Fortunately, the room is non-linear, so you can work on several puzzles at once. They are mostly locks, and each one is labeled to help you when you find the clues related to it. There are a few automatic puzzles and some manipulation puzzles. We thought that the puzzles were creative and original and they were our favorite part of this room. To get hints, we have to call the game master by pressing on a button. We really don’t like this method, as it really breaks the immersion of the game and also it was taking a very long time for the game master to come.

Overall, we liked the room okay especially because of the puzzles but we think that some improvements could be made. There is nothing scary in the room but the puzzles are too difficult for kids and the room is better suited for groups of 4-5 people. We are still ashamed of our performance, as we didn’t succeed and needed 3 hints, and we would have needed at least 10 more minutes. We liked it okay, and we didn’t succeed!
