We continue our day at Exit in Kamloops with The Witch’s House. In this scenario, all your life, you have been told not to go far into the woods. You grew up surrounded by stories of monsters and witches, as well as rumors of missing children. Years later, you have practically forgotten the scary stories of your childhood so you and your group ventured deep into the woods and stumbled upon a clearing with a small cabin. There are huge candies everywhere and the house looks welcoming, but that same bad feeling overwhelms you. A few moments later, you decide to leave and return to the forest. You turn around, but you feel like you are trapped in this clearing. You realize that something has trapped you here and there is no way out. With no other options, you decide to go see the house. As you approach, you notice a cage next to the cabin that you hadn’t noticed before with human bones inside. Do you have what it takes to escape from The Witch’s House? We thought that the scenario was a bit long but at least it was well detailed and a nice version of Hansel & Gretel’s story.

The decors are beautiful, but they have been reused from a previous escape game they had before. Indeed, Gaël and Andréa had done a Christmas theme there 2 years ago and it looks almost the same. Nonetheless, they are well-made and there are multiple rooms. There are also accessories that are quite creepy. There are also witch like sounds to immerse you in a scary atmosphere. The immersion is quite complete in this room.

The puzzles were original and all related to the theme. They were really fun to solve. It was mainly traditional locks. There was one puzzle we did for nothing in the end because we managed to escape anyway without solving it. So, we wasted time, which was disappointing. The game master enters the room to give hints, and that’s really not our preferred method. Moreover, the game master doesn’t seem to track our progress in the game since he didn’t even realize we had succeeded.

Overall, we liked the puzzles but we were disappointed to see the same layout of rooms and almost the same decors. If you like slightly scary rooms with logical and challenging puzzles, this one is perfect for you. We are very happy with our performance because we finished with an excellent time without asking for hints. We liked it okay and we escaped!
