This room was the first one we did that night at Level 1 Escape room. In this scenario, our neighbour has disappeared, so we decided to investigate her apartment. But as we went in, the door locked behind us. We felt that someone was watching us, so we had to get out of there! We thought the scenario was a bit short and lacked a unique twist. On the website, we were warned that there are jump scares and a stressful atmosphere in this room.

We especially liked the decor of the first room. The other two rooms were a bit basic, and we were not sure what their purpose was (other than being creepy). They did a great job with the jump scares and scary music, as we were quite scared in the first room. It’s too bad that one of their props wasn’t working. The story of the room is given via audio as we enter the room.

The puzzles were fun to solve, and there was a nice variety. However, we thought there weren’t enough puzzles. It was mostly traditional locks and some automatic mechanisms. Also, they were all related to the haunted theme of the room. For the hints, they were given using an iPad. We could find each lock from the room on the iPad; we would then click on the picture of the lock we needed help with and check one of the three levels of hints. We don’t like this way of giving hints because the info was not always useful or sometimes the hints was revealing too much information on the puzzle.

Overall, it’s a good room with fun puzzles, but it wasn’t our favorite at this location. Since it’s a bit scary, I wouldn’t recommend doing this room with kids. We think it’s better suited for smaller groups of 2-3 people. We are happy with our performance as we completed the room in 45 minutes, checking only two hints. We liked it, and we escaped!
