Sarah was the first room that we’ve done at Exode Évasion that morning. In this scenario, we received a message from Sarah’s mom. She hasn’t heard from Sarah in days. We know Sarah really well and even if she is an dedicated scientist, she would never disappear on purpose. We are worried, so we will go investigate at her apartment. We liked the mysterious scenario because it’s well detailed and has a clear goal.

The decor was well done and realistic, especially in the first room. We also had no idea where the door for the third room was; it was really unexpected. It’s not easy to be impressed with a simple apartment decor, but Exode did a really great job. It was really neat with great attention to detail.

The puzzles were good and varied. The balance between traditional locks, automatic mechanisms, and manipulation puzzles was perfect. For one of the puzzles, we had to have a good observation sense, which isn’t our forte. We think that our brains are just not wired correctly for these types of puzzles, but it would probably be fine for most people. To get hints, we would call the game master, who was answering in character on a phone. We really liked this way of giving hints. We could either call ourselves or the game master would call when they felt we were running behind.

Overall, we liked the room as the decor was great and the puzzles were fun! It’s a family-friendly room better suited for groups of 4 people. We are not happy with our performance as we completed the room just in time and asked for too many hints. We liked it and we escaped!
