Recrue was the last room we did that day at Exode Évasion in Quebec City. In this scenario, it’s our first day in the secret elite squad EES. We just arrived at their base camp when an alert sounded: red alert – all soldiers on site were neutralized. An international mission is compromised. As new recruits, we are the only hope. There’s no time for training; the future of the world is in our hands. We liked the scenario as it’s well detailed and has a clear goal.

The decor was nice and well done. We were especially impressed by the last puzzles in the final room and how they set it up; we had never seen anything like it in a war-themed room before. We also appreciated how the story and the flow of the room matched perfectly. As always with Exode, the attention to detail and finishing touches were perfect.

The puzzles were fun to solve and all related to the theme. It was a mix of traditional locks and automatic mechanisms. The puzzles were just challenging enough and had a nice variety. To get hints, we would call the game master with a phone in the room, and the game master would answer while impersonating a character related to the story.

Overall, we liked the room because the puzzles and decor were great! It’s a family-friendly room and better suited for smaller groups of 2-3 people. We were happy with our performance as we completed the room with time to spare and only asked for one hint. We liked it, and we escaped!
