Pirates’ Brig was the second room we did that evening at Captured in Halifax. In this scenario, you and your crew are locked in the hold of your ship after a mutiny. The traitors plan to make you walk the plank in just 60 minutes. As the mutineers celebrate, it’s time to escape the brig, arm yourselves, and reclaim your ship. This is a classic pirate scenario that is well-detailed and has a clear goal, though it might be missing a unique twist.

The decor was well done with great attention to detail. It really felt like we were in the hold of a boat, and the door to the second room was cleverly hidden. We liked that the decor and the flow of the rooms matched the storyline perfectly. There was music playing, but it was the same short excerpt that kept repeating. The only downside was that since it was one of their oldest rooms, the papers for clues were damaged.

The puzzles were fun to solve and all related to the theme and story. It was mostly traditional locks, and it’s a non-linear room, meaning we could work on multiple puzzles at the same time. The way they hid clues was clever, and they also included misleading ones, which made things a bit more challenging, and we liked that. Hints were given on a screen in the room.

Overall, we liked the room because the puzzles were fun and the decor was nice! It’s a family-friendly room and better suited for smaller groups of 2-3 people. We were happy with our performance as we completed the room with time to spare and asked for two hints. We liked it, and we escaped!
