The haunted apartment – Xperience

The haunted apartment is the third room that we’ve done at Xperience Kelowna. In this scenario, a family is haunted by the son’s best friend. She started to possess Lucious, the son, after dying in a tragic accident. His parents tried everything to save him. We have the mission to find Lucious and free him from his friend’s spirit. Although, we have to be careful because the spirit might decide to use us as her new playmates!

As soon as we come in the first room, it’s already very creepy. There’s scary music playing and it’s very dark. The decors are really realistic and give us the feeling to have been transported into a haunted apartment. The only thing that was disturbing the immersion was all the fans found in each rooms.

For the hints, they are given using an ipad. We can see each locks/puzzles on the screen and we can select the ones that we are stuck on. It gives sometimes useless clues so we hate this way of giving hints. The puzzles are non-linear since we can do many things at the same time. There’s a nice variety of types of puzzles and they are all related to the theme. The only downside is that it’s a piece of paper that tells us if we won at the end.

Overall, this escape room is just scary enough with a couple jump-scares but it’s not extreme. We are not fan at all of the way of giving hints but if you think that you won’t mind it too much, you will likely have a lot of fun there. We are happy with our performance as we escaped with a fairly good time using only 1 hint. We liked it and we escaped!
