1UP Escape was the first room we did at Trivia Escape Room, and it stood out right away as a unique experience. Unlike traditional escape rooms, this one blends trivia with puzzles—so in order to succeed, you’ll need some knowledge of the theme. Their rooms are based on pop culture, movies, and TV shows, and they rotate themes more frequently than standard escape rooms.
The set design was okay but leaned toward the basic side, especially in rooms 2, 3, and 4. We were really impressed with the murals and video game elements in the first room—it had a fun and nostalgic vibe—but the finishing touches felt a bit rough. We wish the following rooms maintained that same level of quality. That said, we understand that with frequent room changes, it’s harder to invest in elaborate decor. Still, we believe they could make the space feel more immersive with just a bit more creativity and colors, especially with a video game theme. We enjoyed the music that played throughout the game—it added to the atmosphere!

The puzzles were fun and, of course, centered around video games. The only downside is that we expected a few more puzzles overall. Even though we weren’t very familiar with the subject, we managed to finish the room in 30 minutes, which shows it’s accessible. The room mostly featured traditional locks and manipulation-based puzzles. We also appreciated the added trivia questions sprinkled throughout—it made for a nice twist. Hints were provided via walkie talkie.
Overall, this is a fantastic concept with lots of potential. We recommend knowing the theme well to get the most enjoyment out of it. It’s a family-friendly experience and best suited for smaller groups of 2–3 people. We’re happy with our performance—we completed the room in great time and didn’t ask for any hints. We liked it, and we escaped!
