Robotapocalypse was the fourth room we did at Omventure in Markham. In this scenario, we are on a spaceship, and unfortunately, it’s not smooth sailing. We are forced to make an emergency landing on a distant planet populated by robots. Our goal is to repair our spaceship and be on our way, but it’s not easy with the evil robot Zybar ruling. Will we be able to restore peace for the robots or be stranded in space? We liked the mix of robot and space themes, and the scenario is well detailed with a clear goal!

The decor was very impressive, and the rooms were huge! The overall decor, especially the robots, was realistic and well done. The immersion was spot on, and the ambiance of the room was slightly scary, though there were no actual jump scares. It was just dark, and the apocalyptic decor was a bit creepy.

Most of the puzzles were fun to solve but some were task-oriented, especially in the first room. The puzzles were all related to the theme, and the room was linear. It featured only automatic mechanisms and manipulation puzzles. One puzzle required us to listen to an audio recording, which was unclear, so much so that the game master had to bring a sheet with the text written on it. Additionally, one puzzle required only one player and was fairly long. It would have been better if multiple players could have participated. The hints were provided by the game master in person in the room.

Overall, we liked the room, especially because of the unique theme and impressive decor. We are not fans of task-oriented puzzles, but at least it wasn’t like that throughout the whole game. It can be slightly scary for kids and is better suited for groups of four people. We were happy with our performance as we completed the room with time to spare and asked for three hints. We liked it, and we escaped!
