Among the Stars was the second room we did that evening at Captured Escape rooms in Halifax. In this scenario, as members of the press, we’ve been invited to the exclusive unveiling of a scientific breakthrough by Dr. Estella, a professor, researcher, and astronomer. This news is our big break, so our team rushes to the office to be the first to publish it. However, Dr. Estella has a bit more planned than we expected. We appreciated the originality of the theme, and the scenario was well-detailed and mysterious.
The decor was impressive and well-executed, with creative touches that surprised us, especially the transition into the second room. The flow of the rooms matched the storyline perfectly, and the game master did a great job narrating the story from memory before we began. The only thing missing was some background music.

The puzzles were fun to solve and related to the theme. The room was non-linear, allowing us to work on multiple puzzles simultaneously. We liked that clues were found in a random order and that we didn’t always needed to use it right away. The balance between automatic mechanisms and traditional locks was perfect. Hints were given on a screen after pressing a button, though the button wasn’t working properly when we played.
Overall, we enjoyed the room for its original theme and engaging puzzles. It’s family-friendly and better suited for groups of 2-3 people. We’re happy with our performance, completing the room with time to spare and only asking for two hints. We liked it and we escaped!
