The Great Island Bake Off was the third escape room we did at PEI Escape Rooms that day! In this scenario, an international superstar baker is coming to town, and she needs a team to qualify for the Great Island Bake Off. Do we have what it takes to make the team? We loved the theme and the scenario! We thought it was a brilliant idea, well-detailed, and with a clear goal!
The decors were a little disappointing as it was only one room with basically a fridge and one tall armoire. However, it’s important to know that this is the first non-profit escape room in the world, and all profits from this establishment go to the Voluntary Resource Council, a registered charity in Charlottetown—a brilliant and commendable initiative. This also means they probably don’t have the biggest budget for their rooms, and we were told they had a lot of limitations with room layouts. That said, we believe that with very little budget, it would have been fairly easy to make this room look more like a kitchen. However, we enjoyed the music played during the game!

The puzzles were fun to solve and varied. It was only traditional locks this time, and they were all related to the theme. The only downside is that we thought one clue for a puzzle was misleading and it made us waster a lot of time. To get a hint, we had to press a button, and the game master would come into the room to help.
Overall, the puzzles were great, but the decors were disappointing. The initiative of this non-profit is amazing, and we strongly encourage you to try their escape rooms! It’s a family-friendly room and better suited for 2-3 people. We are not very happy with our performance because we escaped but asked for three hints. We liked it, and we escaped!
