Energie Heist was the second room we did that evening at Captured! In this scenario, we play the assistants of the brilliant Dr. Eno Vachon, who one day completely loses it and turns off the world’s energy supply in an attempt to become the only provider. Our mission is to save the world by sneaking into Dr. Eno’s lab while our employer distracts the guards. With a countdown clock giving us just 60 minutes to stop the destruction of the remaining electrical grid, the stakes were high. We liked the scenario because it had a unique twist and was well-detailed with a clear goal!

The decors were fine and matched the story well. However, we felt that the finish wasn’t as polished as the other rooms at this location. That said, the futuristic look was well-executed, and we enjoyed the music playing during the game. We also appreciated that the game master could tell the story by memory, adding to the immersion.

The puzzles were fun and all related to the theme and story. There was a good balance between traditional locks and automatic mechanisms. The puzzles had more than one step and were fairly difficult, which we enjoyed. The room was non-linear, allowing us to work on multiple things at the same time. We also liked that clues for puzzles could be found randomly, meaning we wouldn’t necessarily need them right away. Hints were provided on a screen when requested, which worked well.

Overall, we liked the room because the decors were nice, and the puzzles were fun and challenging. It’s a family-friendly room and is better suited for groups of 4 people. We’re happy with our performance because we completed the room with some time to spare and only asked for 2 hints. We liked it, and we escaped!
