Ye Olde Toy Factory was the fourth room we completed that day at Unlocked Ottawa. In this scenario, this year’s Toy of the Year is a secret, locked away securely. With Christmas nearly a full year away, we can’t wait to get our hands on this new toy. We decide to break into the factory and steal the plans to build the toy ourselves. We have one hour before the elves return from their lunch break. We liked the scenario because it was well-detailed, had a clear goal, and was a cute story!

The decor was well done and beautifully decorated for the holidays. While the purpose of the first room was clear, the second room’s purpose was a bit ambiguous. Despite this, they were very creative in integrating the puzzles into the decor. We also enjoyed the holiday-themed music playing during the game! Before starting, you can choose your difficulty level between kids, family, regular and expert. We chose expert level.

The puzzles were fun to solve and creative, all related to the theme. There was a mix of traditional locks and automatic mechanisms. Although there were many puzzles, they were a bit easy and most had only one step. To ask for hints, we could contact the game master via walkie-talkie.

Overall, we liked the room because the theme and story were cute, and the puzzles were fun! It’s the perfect room for families, especially since the puzzles aren’t very hard even at the expert level. It’s better suited for smaller groups of 2-3 people. We were happy with our performance, completing the room with time to spare and without asking for hints. We enjoyed it and we escaped!
