Underwater Expedition is the first room that we’ve done at Défi Évasion in Québec City. In this scenario, we have been recruited to be part of the crew of the Selkie 4 submarine that has the mission to explore the Bermuda Triangle. We’ll sink into the depths in order to be the first to explore this amazing mythical place. Let’s hope that the submarine won’t suffer the same fate as many other boats that disappeared in these waters. We liked the scenario as it’s well detailed and has a mysterious goal.
The decor was nice and matched the storyline. It wasn’t the most realistic submarine and underwater decor that we’ve seen, but they did a decent job. We liked that the outside part of the door was matching the decor as well. The story is shared on a piece of paper before starting the game and also with a video in the room. The story on paper could be skipped.

The puzzles were fun to solve and varied. It was mostly automatic mechanisms and manipulation puzzles with a couple of traditional locks. The puzzles were all related to the theme and matched the storyline. The game master brings us to the room playing a character and continues to play the character to give us hints in person in the room. We liked this way of giving hints as it was funny and useful!
Overall, we liked this escape room because the puzzles, decor, and game master were great! This is a family-friendly room and better suited to small groups of 2-3 people. We are happy with our performance as we completed the room with some time to spare and only asked for 1 hint. We liked it and we escaped!
