We continue our day at Room Escape in Ottawa with Undermined. In this scenario, the geological genius Dr. Jackson reported strange discoveries from an ancient mining site, but he hasn’t been heard from since his last contact with the surface… Your team must search the mine to uncover what happened to the doctor and his discoveries before radiation exposure and collapses reach you first. The scenario is original, and the goal is very clear. However, we didn’t like how it ended.
The decor is very realistic and believable. There is a part of the escape game that is in motion, and it’s very well done! There’s also an element of the decor that we absolutely loved, and we’ll leave that as a surprise for your experience! We enjoyed the music playing during the game and how well they connected the story and the decor. However, the only small downside is that you have to leave your personal belongings in the room, but this won’t spoil the immersive experience overall.
The puzzles are quite challenging in this room. There are many to solve, and it’s non-linear, so you can work on several at once. They are all related to the theme. The puzzles are varied, and it’s a good mix of locks, automatic mechanisms, and manipulation puzzle. The hints appear on a TV screen after you request them via the walkie-talkie. There is no character played by the game master.
Overall, we highly recommend this escape room because the immersion is truly extraordinary, and the puzzles are fun to solve. This room is family friendly and better suited for small groups of 2-3 people. We are satisfied with our performance, as we completed it in good time, but we asked for 3 hints. We recommend it and we escaped!
