The Time Team Trilogy – Chapter 3 was the third room we played that day at Unlocked Ottawa. This story is divided into three chapters, all played in the same room. The decor stays mostly the same, with small changes depending on the chapter. In this scenario, you must travel through time to save your family from a villain. The concept brings you into a comic book world where you unlock your full superhero potential. The idea itself is interesting and unique, but the story remains fairly basic.

The decors were cute, but like in the previous two chapters, the space is small and only accessories and some furniture change, so it essentially feels like the same room again. We didn’t get the surprise factor we usually enjoy when entering a new escape room. That said, we understand this was part of the concept, and they were clearly creative in how they adapted the decor for each chapter. It just wasn’t very exciting for us overall. The music also didn’t match the theme, and we could still hear people outside the room, which affected immersion.

The puzzles were fun and slightly harder than in the other two chapters, with more variety. They included a mix of entering codes on an iPad, traditional locks, automatic mechanisms, and manipulation games. Unfortunately, we weren’t lucky—there was a major bug in the game, and we had to step out while they restarted the system. There were also very long story videos between each puzzle, which constantly interrupted the flow and really took us out of the experience. The hints were provided either on the iPad or via a walkie-talkie.

Overall, we didn’t really like this room because the decor felt redundant and the puzzles weren’t particularly memorable. It’s a family-friendly room and better suited for small groups of 2–3 people. Because of the technical issue, we don’t know how long it actually took us to complete the room. We didn’t enjoy it much—but we escaped!
