The Lost Island of the Voodoo Queen was the second room we played that day at Escaparium Laval. In this scenario, the admiral gives us clear orders to gather a crew and set out in search of the island of the Voodoo Queen. Finding sailors proves difficult, as few have lived to tell the tale of such an island—if it even exists. If we do find it, our mission is to retrieve what they call the “Eternal Loneliness” from the Voodoo Queen, an object the admiral desperately seeks, though his reasons remain unclear.

The game master welcomes us fully in character, and before the game even begins, there’s a short acting scene with special effects. It’s very well done and quite impressive, and it sets the tone of the experience perfectly. The scenario is a classic pirate story, but it’s well developed, detailed, and has a clear objective.

The decors were absolutely stunning. As usual, they completely blew us away. The realism, attention to detail, unique layout, and sheer creativity are truly next level. They raise the bar extremely high for other escape room companies, going above and beyond to create fully immersive environments. This is a motion escape room, which makes the experience even more realistic and dynamic. The only downside is that the warehouse ceiling is quite visible at times. We also really enjoyed the music playing throughout the game, which added a lot to the atmosphere.

The puzzles were fun to solve and all closely tied to the theme. The room used only automatic mechanisms and one manipulation puzzle. Many of the puzzles were fairly complex and required multiple steps, which we really enjoyed. The puzzles were also very well integrated into the decor, making everything feel cohesive. Hints were provided in a brilliant way that we won’t spoil—they’re cleverly connected to the story and make perfect sense within the narrative.

Overall, we loved this escape room. The decor made us feel like we were on a movie set, the puzzles were just challenging enough, and the overall experience was fantastic. It’s a family-friendly room, although the puzzles may be too difficult for younger kids, and it’s best suited for groups of 2–3 people. We were happy with our performance: we completed the room with some time to spare and only asked for two hints. We loved it, we highly recommend it—and we escaped!
