We continued our evening at Perplexity in Brampton with The Last Laugh. In this scenario, it’s 1985 and you’re on the grounds of the Perplexity Bros circus, with demolition trucks rumbling in the distance. A year ago, the carnival opened its doors, but it was quickly plagued by accidents, disappearances, and deaths. The crowds stopped coming, and all the circus workers vanished, leaving the carnival abandoned. You and your team of investigative journalists must uncover what happened before the demolition crews wipe away all the evidence explaining why the cheers and laughter turned into screams and shrieks. The scenario is very intriguing and the goal is clear.

Before starting the escape room, the game master explains the rules and the story. The set design is incredibly realistic and well done. You’ll truly feel like you’re in an abandoned circus. There isn’t a traditional entrance door, and it’s not a closed-off room — it genuinely feels like a carnival tent. The room is mostly one large space with other small areas to discover. It’s quite spooky, with a few jump scares, so it’s definitely not recommended for kids. The music also ties in with the theme. Overall, the immersion is absolutely 100% successful in this room.

There are lots of original puzzles to solve, and they are fairly difficult. They require a lot of thinking but are all logical and tied to the theme. Most of them use traditional locks, with a few automatic mechanisms. The room is linear, so you can’t work on multiple puzzles at the same time. When you need a hint, you use the phone located in the main room, which directly calls the game master (who doesn’t play a character).

Overall, we highly recommend trying this escape room — the immersion is amazing, the set design is believable, and the puzzles are fun to solve. We don’t suggest doing it with young kids because the atmosphere is quite intense and scary at times. We recommend playing it with a group of 2 or 3 people. We feel fine about our performance — we escaped in a decent time with 2 hints. We loved it and we escaped!
