This Psychiatric unit is our favorite of all the rooms at the Surrey Exit location. There were a few missing patients from a psychiatric unit and it caught our attention. One was visiting the institute a few days ago and never came back. Did that person see things it shouldn’t have? We must investigate and find them.

The immersion in this room isn’t ideal as there is no music and we can hear sounds from other rooms. Music could have created a scary ambiance and cover sounds from other rooms better.  The set designs are well done and there are more than one room which is always more fun. On the other hand, we didn’t like that it’s written everywhere how much it will cost us if we break something. We understand why but it really affects the immersion. And for one puzzle, we were told to not touch specific parts of the set design but turned out we needed to find something in there after all. We used a hint for that and we were not really happy.

When we ask for hints, the game master will enter the room and help us with the puzzle we are stuck on. It’s unfortunately not our favorite way of giving hints as it will also affect the immersion. The puzzles were good and interesting in general. There was a nice variety of puzzles and they were all related to the theme. One thing that we noticed is that the puzzles were either hard or way too easy.

Overall, we recommend this escape room because we had fun and we think that it’s well done. We aren’t satisfied with our performance because we didn’t escape in time although we were nearly done. We liked it even if we didn’t escape!
