PEI escape rooms

Oak Island was the second room we experienced at PEI Escape Room in Charlottetown. As the first non-profit escape room in the world, all profits from this establishment go to the Voluntary Resource Council, a registered charity in Charlottetown—a brilliant and commendable initiative. However, this also means that they probably don’t have the biggest budget for their rooms and we were told that they had a lot of limitation with room layouts.

In this scenario, the fabled treasure of Oak Island has captivated treasure hunters worldwide. With our team, we ventured into the legendary money pit, rumored to conceal the treasure. Despite our successful entry, we faced a daunting challenge: only 60 minutes remained before our oxygen supply depleted. We particularly admired the theme and scenario, drawn from a real-life tale. The decorations were well-executed, and the effective utilization of space impressed us. It seemed they had more freedom and budget for this room, evident in their creativity and attention to detail.

The puzzles in Oak Island were thoughtfully designed and displayed creativity. Their difficulty level surpassed the puzzles in the other two rooms. The room isn’t linear so we had a lot of things to do at the same time and we liked the variety of puzzles. The mix of traditional locks and automatic mechanisms was well-balanced. Our game master was exceptional; she delivered the introduction story with enthusiasm, setting the tone for an exciting adventure. Hints were accessible via a red button, and our game master would come in the room to help.

Overall, Oak Island is an exceptional room with great decor and fun puzzles. Considering the likely constraints on their budget, their achievement is even more impressive. The room is great for families and is ideally suited for smaller groups. We were pleased with our performance, completing the challenge in good time and requiring only two hints. We liked it and we escaped!
