The Matrix Theme was the second room we did at Escape Hour in Edmonton. In this scenario, if we’re in the Matrix, it means humanity has lost. What if there’s hope to save humanity? We need to get out of the Matrix and save humanity. The scenario is fine and well-written on their website.
The decor was well done, but it could have been more realistic and improved. The rooms were huge with high ceilings, and there were five rooms in total. We started in two separate rooms for this one. However, we were not impressed with the customer service. There’s no one to welcome the customers; they are all hiding in a room. It was just odd.

The puzzles were not great. Not only were some not working, but there also weren’t that many, and the flow wasn’t good. It was not logical, and it was hard to find what to do next. It was mostly just placing things somewhere. We were so bored. The hints were given on an iPad, which wasn’t great either. It was a bit useless.
Overall, we didn’t like this room because the puzzles were boring. It’s not scary, so it’s family-friendly and better suited for smaller groups of 2-3 people. We are happy with our performance as we completed the room with some time to spare, but we did ask for three hints. We didn’t like it but we escaped anyway!
