We continued our day at Ichabod’s Escape in London with A Madder Tea Party. In this scenario, you’re transported into the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland. Are you ready to follow the White Rabbit down the rabbit hole? You’ll need to save your team—and Alice herself—from the evil clutches of the Queen of Hearts. Will you outsmart her? The description on the website is a bit too long and focuses more on the gameplay experience than the actual story. That said, the scenario is still original and fun, and the game objective is very clear.
Before starting the escape room, the game master explains the story and your mission. As soon as you enter the first room, you’ll notice the set design is beautiful, realistic and matching the theme and story perfectly. Each room is filled with details and props. It’s a shame the lighting is a bit dim, as we couldn’t fully appreciate how impressive the environment was. The music matched the theme well, and all of these elements created a successful sense of immersion.

There aren’t many puzzles in this room, but they are fairly challenging. Some are more complex than others and require some reflexion. All of them are well connected to the theme, except for one that felt unclear. Most of the puzzles are automatic mechanisms. The only downside is that there’s a significant delay between solving a puzzle and getting confirmation that it worked. This caused some confusion, as it slowed us down and made us doubt ourselves. Overall, though, we enjoyed solving the puzzles. Hints are given via walkie-talkie upon request, and the game master does not play a character in the room.
To conclude, we enjoyed this escape game for its playful storyline, well-crafted decor, strong immersion, and fun puzzles. We recommend this room for families with children or small groups of 2–3 friends. We’re happy with our performance, as we finished with a good time and only asked for two hints. We liked the room—and we escaped!
