Cabin in the Woods was the last room we played at Jigsaw on January 8, 2024. In this scenario, we were on an evening hike with our friends in Gatineau Park when we suddenly heard a scream off the path and decided to investigate. That was the last thing we remembered before waking up in a cabin with no clue how we got there. Blood covered the walls, and something felt off—we quickly realized we were trapped in a killer’s lair and had to escape before becoming the next victims! We liked that the scenario was well detailed and had a clear goal, and we appreciated the inclusion of a real location in Quebec to add to the immersion.

The set design, however, was slightly disappointing. The entire game took place in a single, very small room, and while some accessories and furniture were nice, the overall decor felt somewhat basic. That said, the ambiance was appropriately creepy. We started in complete darkness and had to find a flashlight before solving puzzles, which we thought was a great idea! Despite the eerie setup, the room wasn’t particularly scary—just slightly unsettling.

The puzzles were fun to solve and mostly related to the theme, though they all relied on traditional locks. This room is a good choice for less experienced escape artists, as the puzzles were relatively easy. Hints were given through a walkie-talkie. Unfortunately, we weren’t impressed with the customer service—the game master was rude and seemed eager for the shift to end, which took away from the experience.

Overall, the room was okay, but it’s not among the best we’ve seen. It might be a bit scary for kids and is better suited for small groups of 2-3 people, especially those new to escape rooms. We were happy with our performance, as we completed the room quickly without asking for any hints. We didn’t really enjoy it, but we escaped!
