We decided to do these escape rooms a few weeks after we returned to Vancouver from a trip in Quebec. There, we did 9 escape rooms that were seriously amazing, so we were hoping for the same quality and excitement at Smarty Pantz.
With these rooms being only 45min, our hopes were not high as we always find it way too short. We realized afterwards that this company is in a touristy neighbourhood with very high rent prices so they maybe thought that tourist wouldn’t want to do 60min escape rooms. And doing 45min rooms would probably make it more cost-effective.
This scenario is taking place in a scary mysterious haunted house, we are paranormal investigators trying to figure out if the rumour of a murdered victim haunting the study of this house is true. We got locked in the room and need to find a way to break the curse and get out before midnight or we will become the spirit’s next victim.

The game master was giving us hints while acting as a paranormal investigator. He was a great help throughout the game. The immersion in his room was well done, it was a little scary and the special effects were quite impressive. We were a little disappointed by the fact that there’s only one room, although it is part of the scenario in this case.
The puzzles were fun and related to the theme of the room. The creators of this game were really creative with their puzzles and used the theme at its full potential. The only thing is that there wasn’t enough puzzle, when we realized that we were done with the room, it felt too short and not complete. I wished that there would be more puzzles and more time.
In summary, the puzzles, scenario and immersion were amazing, we just wished it could be longer with more puzzles! We recommend it to beginners and small groups only. We liked it and we escaped!
