The elixir was the 5th room that we’ve done that day at Défi évasion in Quebec City. In this scenario, the king is meeting the future queen in a few hours and he doesn’t have a single drop of his youth potion left. He entrusts us to find the village wizard who is the only one able to make the potion. We have to find him fast! We liked the scenario because it’s well detailed and has a clear goal!
The decors looked nice and they used the space really well. The only downside is that we thought the first room’s purpose wasn’t clear as we were not too sure where we were. We also thought that the puzzles weren’t integrated that well in the decor either. But we have to say that everything was functioning fine and their attention to details is perfect.
The puzzles were fun to solve and the hardest ones at this location in our opinion. They are all related to the theme and the balance between traditional locks and automatic mechanisms was great. Our game master welcomed us playing a character related to the theme which was amazing. She was also providing hints in character in the room with us.
Overall, we liked this room because the decors were nice and the puzzles were difficult and fun to solve! It’s a family friendly room although the puzzles may be too challenging for kids. It’s better suited for groups of 4 people. We aren’t too happy with our performance as we struggled with a few puzzles and had to ask 4 hints. We liked it and we escaped!
