Playground was the first room we did that evening at The Escape Game in San Francisco. In this scenario, we have to complete all the subjects before the end of the day so that we can enjoy summer. The scenario on their website is a bit brief, mostly describing the experience instead of being a story. We wished it was a bit more detailed, but we liked the originality of the theme!
The decors were well done and impressive. We appreciated their attention to detail, creativity, and how fun and colorful it was. The way we enter the third room was perfect for the theme and so much fun! At the beginning, we listened to a video explaining the rules and the story. We also liked the music that was playing throughout the game. The only downside is that they don’t have lockers to keep our personal stuff in.

The puzzles were fun to solve and all related to the theme. It was mostly manipulation puzzles and games with a few traditional locks and automatic mechanisms. The puzzles are fairly easy to solve, but there are a lot of them. It’s a nonlinear room, which means we can work on multiple things at the same time. The only downside is that one puzzle’s mural was damaged, making it way less clear, and we wasted time. To get a hint, we had to press a button, and the game master would send a hint on the screen.
Overall, we loved this room as the puzzles were so fun and the decors were spot on. It’s a family-friendly room and better suited for groups of 4 if you haven’t done many escape rooms. If you are experienced, you can very likely complete the room as a group of 2-3. We are happy with our performance as we completed the room with some time to spare and only asked for 1 hint. We loved it and we escaped!
