Haunted Carnival was the first room we did at Room Escape Atlantic. In this scenario, as crowds were beginning to fade at their carnival, the Carney brothers made a deal with Madame Clairvoyant to keep the carnival running forever. Unfortunately, the deal came with the cost that all employees and performers were placed under a curse. One hundred years later, the employees and performers are still haunting the place, and we have 60 minutes to break the curse; otherwise, we will be part of the attraction forever. We liked the scenario as it’s well-detailed with a clear goal.
The decor was nice and well done. However, it’s only one room, which is always a bit disappointing. There are no jump scares in this game, so it’s only the decor that is a bit creepy. Additionally, there wasn’t any music playing, unfortunately. It’s hard to tell what the purpose of the room is, and it was mostly a bunch of boxes with locks on them.

The puzzles were fun to solve and related to the theme. It was only traditional locks, mostly with four numbers on them. The room is linear, which means that we can only solve one puzzle at a time, one after the other. Clues weren’t mixed or scattered around the room; we would open a box and find all the clues for the next puzzles. This gets really predictable and a bit boring. To get hints, we would call our game master with a phone.
Overall, we liked the room okay, but we were hoping for more rooms and less predictable puzzles. The room is slightly creepy but not really scary, so I think older kids could be fine. It’s better suited for smaller groups of 2-3 people. We are happy with our performance as we completed the room with time to spare and only asked for 1 hint. We liked it okay, and we escaped!
