Xcape room
– Glasgow, Scotland

Magic forest was the second room that we’ve done at Xcape rooms in Glasgow. In this scenario, the enchanted forest has fallen into corruption under the influence of the evil queen. We were chosen by fate to rescue this one peaceful realm with the help of the inhabitant of wonderland. This scenario is inspired by Alice Wonderland which is a theme that I’m always curious about. We thought that the scenario was missing a bit of a unique twist and that it was a bit generic.

The decors were fine however nothing to be completely blown away. The rooms were quite small but there were 4 rooms so this was great. There was a gap between the walls and the ceiling so we could hear everything from the other rooms even if music was playing. We also thought that there wasn’t much of a connection between the decors and the storyline.

The puzzles were fun and most of them were related to the theme. It was mostly simple one step puzzles. None of the puzzles were really memorable to us but we thought that some ideas were clever. The balance between traditional locks, automatic mechanisms and manipulation puzzles was good. For the hints, we were using a walkie talkie which is fine.

Overall, it’s a good basic room but we were not too impressed by it. If you haven’t done many rooms, you’ll probably like it as the puzzles were still fun to solve. More experienced escape artists might not be too impressed. We are happy with our performance as we finished with a great time without asking too many hints. We liked it and we escaped!
