Dracula’s Library was the last room we played that evening at Captive in Mississauga. In this scenario, we are in New Orleans in 1862, and as a team of journalists, we are on the trail of the world’s most infamous vampire. Lured into a mansion that seems like a promising lead to expose Dracula to the world, we quickly realize that we have become unwitting participants in one of the deadliest games. We have to get out as soon as possible! We really liked the scenario—it’s well detailed and has a clear, engaging goal.
The decor was good, a bit on the basic side, but still quite good. It felt fairly realistic, with many objects and a clear purpose in each room, except for the last one, which was a little less obvious. To access the second room, we had to do something unusual in an escape room, which took us a while to figure out. We felt there could have been another solution, as it went against some standard escape room rules. That said, we liked that the timer made sense within the theme, and we also enjoyed the music, which added to the atmosphere.

The puzzles were fun to solve and all connected to the story and theme. The room used only traditional locks—some players prefer more technology, but we personally don’t mind as long as the puzzles are good. The logic behind them was clear, the quantity felt right, and they weren’t overly difficult. The room is linear, meaning we could only work on one puzzle at a time. To get a hint, we had to press a button for the game master to come into the room, which we don’t love, as it breaks immersion.
Overall, we enjoyed the room thanks to the fun puzzles and good decor. It’s a family-friendly experience that’s best suited for groups of 2–3 players. We were happy with our performance because we escaped quickly, even though we did ask for two hints. We enjoyed it, and we escaped!
