We ended our night with Judgment Day at Eliviascape in Québec City. In this scenario, a mysterious voice has been echoing in your head for days, begging you to go to 969 Route de l’Église. Will you dare follow this unsettling call to uncover the dark mystery that awaits? The storyline is intriguing and gradually reveals itself as you progress through the game. It’s refreshingly original, and the objective remains clear throughout the experience.
The set design is impressively realistic and well-executed. However, Andrea thought that the atmosphere and style of the first few rooms are too similar to Abstraction, another rooms at Eliviascape. She thought it felt like we were doing the same room even though we were not! She was hoping they would do something different. This escape game has a lot of rooms to explore and a very unique layout. It’s dark and genuinely scary—especially since we chose to play with an actor. The actor becomes more involved toward the end, and let’s just say: expect a few jump scares and maybe even some screams. That said, you can opt to play without the actor if you prefer. The intense soundtrack also adds to the tension.

The puzzles are all thematically tied to the story and there are plenty of them. They’re not too difficult though. The first half of the game leans more on logic and observation, while the second half becomes more manipulation puzzles. All the puzzles are automated, and the game is linear, meaning you solve one puzzle at a time. As we progressed, there was an average of one thing to do in each room we would open. Andrea thought this was underwhelming and would have rather have less rooms and more complex puzzles in each room. Hints are delivered via audio, and you can ask for clarifications using a walkie-talkie.
Overall, Gaël and I really enjoyed this escape room but Andrea wasn’t as impressed with it compare to the other games at Eliviascape. But we agreed that the immersion was very good, the decor is well done with a very unique layout, and the puzzles are fun and satisfying to solve. (most of them). We recommend playing in a group of four and leaving young kids at home. If you’re not into scary escape rooms, this one might not be for you. We’re proud of our performance—we escaped in a decent time with only two hints. We loved it, and we made it out!
