Upside Down was the first room we did that evening in June 2024 at Exit New Westminster. In this scenario, we are new trainee deputies in a small town where nothing ever really happens—until Joyce Byers comes to the station to report a missing child. Since then, strange things have started occurring, and even our police chief has gone missing. We’re sent to the last known location of the chief to solve the mystery. We liked the scenario because it was mysterious and well detailed.

The set design looked good overall but felt a bit inconsistent. We really liked the first room, but the other rooms didn’t impress us as much. Some elements were damaged and held together with duct tape, which took away from the experience. We think some repairs and updates would really help elevate the room. There were also a lot of stickers saying not to touch certain items, which broke the immersion. That said, we did enjoy the music playing during the game.

The puzzles were fun to solve but very easy—most were simple, one-step tasks. It was a linear game, meaning we had to solve one puzzle at a time. There was a good mix of traditional locks and automatic mechanisms. Unfortunately, one puzzle wasn’t working properly, which caused us to lose a lot of time. To get hints, we had to press an intercom button and wait for the game master to come in. Since the game master wasn’t following our progress closely, it took a while for him to understand where we were.

Overall, we enjoyed the room, but we think it could benefit from some improvements. The decor needs a refresh, and the puzzles could be a bit more challenging. This is a family-friendly room, better suited for small groups of 2–3 people. We’re happy with our performance—we completed the room quickly and only asked for one hint. We liked it okay, and we escaped!
