We continue our day at Escapology in London with Budapest Express. In this scenario, you and your fellow detectives are on a fast train to Budapest when you discover that a man named Sir Clarence Hayden has been murdered. You manage to identify five suspects who were seen in the dining car around the time of the murder, and it’s up to you to stop the killer before the next stop. As you search through the cabins and gather evidence, the murderer realizes you’re on their trail and decides that you are their next target. You must catch them before they escape at the next station. The scenario of this escape room is very original and different from other murder-themed rooms because it follows the Clue-style investigation concept. The goal is also very clear.

Before starting the escape game, you enter the first room and watch a video explaining the rules and the story. The decor is beautiful and quite realistic. Indeed, the layout of the rooms is very clever and really looks like a train! We also liked that the rooms were filled with many objects. However, there is a big whiteboard on the wall to take notes and help you throughout the game, which slightly reduces the credibility of the setting. But despite that, the immersion was very good because the decors look great overall and there was music playing during the game.

There are many puzzles to solve in this escape game, and they are quite difficult. They require a lot of reflexion especially due to the large amount of information you will find throughout the game. Everything is also very logical and well connected to the theme. The game is linear, so you cannot solve multiple puzzles at the same time. Most of the puzzles involve traditional locks. Hints are provided when you press a button, and they then appear on the same screen as the video seen at the beginning in the first room.

Overall, we highly recommend trying this escape game because the scenario is original, the decor is realistic, the immersion is well executed, and the puzzles are fun to solve. Despite its difficulty, we still suggest playing it as a family or in a small group of 2 or 3 people. We are happy about our performance since we finished with a decent time, using two hints. We loved it, and we escaped!
