We continued our day with Candy Conspiracy at Escape Manor Junior Nepean in Ottawa. In this scenario, your world-famous taffy recipe has been destroyed. You must recreate it before your shop opens, or you might have to close your doors for good! Before the game starts, the venue’s kid-friendly mascot makes an appearance to set a fun and playful atmosphere. Then, an audio introduction explains the story and objective, which is clear and easy to follow.

The decor in this escape room is fairly basic, lacking some finishing touches. Many elements could have been improved to enhance the overall look. We also encountered a technical issue—a door that should have been locked from the start was left open, revealing another room too early and spoiling the surprise. Additionally, there are no lockers at the entrance, so we had to bring our personal belongings into the game which affect the immersion a little. On the positive side, the themed background music added to the immersion, though overall, the experience didn’t feel entirely immersive.

The puzzles in this escape room are on the easier side but follow a good logical flow. There aren’t many in total, but they all relate well to the theme. The game is linear, meaning you have to solve puzzles in order rather than working on multiple ones at once. Most of the puzzles involve locks, with a small number of automatic mechanisms. At the end of the game, if you succeed, the mascot returns to congratulate you, which adds a fun and amusing touch. Hints are provided via walkie-talkie, but without a game master playing a character related to the theme.

Overall, we liked the room fine but weren’t too impressed either especially because of the decors. What stood out the most were the puzzles, which were enjoyable to solve. We still had a good time, and we recommend this room for families with children. However, we don’t think it’s worth it for a group of adults. As for our own performance, we weren’t entirely satisfied—we completed the room in an average time and needed two hints, despite it being an easier game. We liked it okay and we escaped!
