Weekend at the shack was the second escape room we did at Immersia in Laval that evening. Before starting the game, there is a lengthy video explaining the rules. Since we were doing all four escape rooms back-to-back, we found it tedious to watch the same video four times in a row. In this scenario, the long-awaited weekend at the chalet has finally arrived. You’ve been invited to spend a few days celebrating a friend’s birthday. They’ve promised the party of the century, and as soon as you arrive, the festivities will begin. The scenario and objective become clearer as you progress through the game.
The decors are realistic and well done. The stressful atmosphere is established right from the start. This game is scary, but we found it to be manageable. There’s a few jump scares but no live actors with you in the room. While the immersion is good, the second room could benefit from being more detailed and filled with additional props.

The puzzles are all related to the theme and the story and there’s a nice variety of logics. It’s mostly traditional locks. The game is non-linear, meaning that we can work on multiple puzzles at the same time. Hints are given via phone by the game master, who stays in character related to the theme.
Overall, we really enjoyed this room due to the strong connection between the scenario, realistic décor, and unique puzzles. If you enjoy scary and stressful escape games with jump scares but no actors, this room is perfect for you. The room is better suited for small groups of 2-3 people. We are pleased with our performance as we completed it in good time, asking for only one hint. We liked it and we escaped!
