Laboratory Escape was the first room we attempted at Exit in Langley. In this scenario, our team travels to the center of a wasteland using an experimental time machine. With the push of a button, we step into an alley in downtown old Langley. After the last person exits the machine, we set out toward the source of the energy perceived by the machine. While the scenario is more detailed on the website, I found the goal unclear and the storyline lacking an original twist. However, I did appreciate that they included their own town in the scenario.

The decor was extremely disappointing. It followed the same layout as all the other rooms there, offering no surprises. The decor was very basic and lacked interesting elements. Additionally, many items were labeled with warnings not to touch them, or we would face a fine. There was no music in the room, and some accessories didn’t make sense within the story.

We weren’t fans of the puzzles either, as there weren’t many, and they were very simple. It was a linear room, meaning we could only work on one thing at a time. One puzzle wasn’t part of the game and wasn’t working, yet it was still left in the room and the game master didn’t tell us ahead of time. The game master came into the room to give hints, which isn’t our preferred method.

Overall, we didn’t enjoy the room because the decor and puzzles weren’t great. It’s a family-friendly room better suited for 2-3 people. However, we were pleased with our performance, as we completed the room with time to spare and only asked for one hint. We didn’t enjoy it, but at least we escaped!
