The Study 2- Lock down

Our day continues at Lockdown in Red Deer with The Study 2. In this scenario, you and your group are touring in another country and you venture into an old abandoned building for dinner. You find yourselves in this amazing office, and suddenly, the door closes. Strange noises begin to occur, and the door locks behind you. You must escape before your tour bus leaves without you, leaving you stranded forever in this scary place. Will you make it in time? Will you escape? We liked the scenario because it’s well detailed with a clear goal.

The set designs are beautiful in this escape game, but there is nothing that impressive. However, the scary and stressful atmosphere is well-present as we had a couple jump-scares. We were told that sometimes the game master comes in the room to scare the players but he didn’t with us. We were apparently scared enough as is! There are several rooms in this escape room which is great. The only downside is that we were not sure what the purpose of the third room was and we didn’t find the end of the scenario convincing.

The puzzles are difficult, and not all of them are related to the theme. There’s even one puzzle that we would never have solved because there was no indications on how to find the solution. There’s also a puzzle that worked without us doing anything. There was a great balance between traditional locks, automatic mechanisms, and manipulation games. The game master enters the room to give hints when you ask for them through the walkie-talkie. It’s really not our preferred method.

Overall, we enjoyed this escape room because the puzzles are original and enjoyable to solve. If you like scary escape rooms, you will probably enjoy this one! We’re happy with our performance because we managed to finish with a reasonable time and we only only asked for 1 hint, despite being stressed and scared.
