The Rise of Itzamna is the 4th room that we’ve done at Xperience in Kelowna. In this scenario, you and your team have decided to head down to a small town in Mexico. You learn that the massive temple of Itzamna which has been sealed off for centuries is just outside the town. You decide to go explore it when suddenly the door behind you closes and a toxic gas fills the air. You have to find the way out before you die and hopefully find some treasures in the process. We think that the scenario is great and well detailed.

The decors were well done and realistic. There was a lot of details on the walls which will make you think that everything is a puzzle. (We think that this is a positive aspect in this room) The only downside is that the game master told us that the room is exactly the same as another room that we’ve done in the past at Level 1 in Calgary. Luckily, we didn’t remember the puzzles much but the decors were very similar.

The puzzles were fairly complex and all related to the theme. It was mostly automatic mechanisms and visual puzzles. We noticed that a few puzzles had the same logic which is a bit disappointing. The hints were given using an ipad which means that the game master isn’t following your progress. The ipad was giving mostly useless hints so we didn’t really like it.

Overall, it’s a good room with fun and difficult puzzles and beautiful decors. It’s not really scary (although there’s not much light) so it’s family friendly and probably better suited for groups of 3-4 people. We aren’t too happy with our performance as we asked too many hints but did escape anyway. We liked it and we escaped!
