The Visitor from the Future was the only room we played that evening at Défi Évasion. In this scenario, your uncle, Hector Tremblay, a renowned collector and historian, asks you to keep an eye on his shop while he is away recovering valuable artefacts. As you explore the space, you notice a collection of unusual objects. Some appear ancient, while others seem strangely futuristic. You recall hearing that, in recent years, Hector had taken a keen interest in time travel. Before you have time to reflect on this, a blinding light suddenly appears in front of you. When it fades, a mysterious human silhouette stands in its place, demanding to speak with Hector. What is going on? We enjoyed the scenario for its strong sense of mystery and detailed storyline.

The decor was beautiful, with great attention to detail and plenty to observe. Although the layout was the same as another room we had played at this location, the design felt distinct enough to stand on its own. The purpose of the first room was clear, though it became less obvious in the later spaces. The environment felt realistic, as if we had truly stepped into an antique shop filled with intriguing items. We also appreciated the background music and the effort put into decorating even the exterior side of the main door to match the theme. A standout touch was the game master welcoming us while fully in character, which added to the immersion.

The puzzles were fun to solve and well connected to the theme and story. There was a mix of traditional locks, automatic mechanisms, and manipulation games. The room was non-linear, allowing us to work on multiple puzzles simultaneously. While the puzzles were generally on the easier side, there was a good quantity, and they encouraged careful observation. One downside was that the game master mentioned that a couple of puzzles had been reused from a previous room, which we found disappointing. We suspected we recognized them, though we were not entirely certain. Hints were delivered in character by the game master, who was present in the room, and we also had the option to use an iPad for additional hints.

Overall, we had a great time with this game. The decor was impressive, and the puzzles were fun. This is a family-friendly room that works best for groups of two to three players. We were very happy with our performance, completing the room quickly without using any hints. We liked it and we escaped!
