Exode évasion
– Quebec City, Quebec, Canada

Orbite was the only room we played that evening at Exode Évasion in Quebec City! In this scenario, we’ve been chosen to move to Orbite, a brand-new cooperative housing district… in space! Our space adventure begins today—but we need to be cautious, since we’re the first humans to live outside of Earth, and our reputation isn’t exactly spotless. It’s essential that we make a good first impression on our new alien neighbors. We really liked the unique twist of the story—it was refreshing to have a more light-hearted, futuristic scenario instead of the usual “failing spaceship” trope. The backstory was well-detailed and original.

As expected from Exode, the decors were stunning. Their attention to detail and finishing touches continues to raise the bar for escape room design. Everything looked polished, immersive, and remarkably realistic. The layout of the room was also creative, making clever use of multiple levels, which added a fun physical element to the experience. We appreciated how naturally the puzzles blended into the environment, and the background music helped elevate the atmosphere. The experience started with a video briefing in a separate room, which did a great job setting the tone.

The puzzles were fun, challenging, and fully integrated into the theme and story. Everything ran through automatic mechanisms and manipulation-based games—no traditional locks here! The difficulty level was on the higher side, with many multi-step puzzles that kept us thinking. The room was non-linear, which meant there were lots of things to do at once, and we often had to go back and forth between rooms to gather clues or complete puzzles. Hints were given on a screen by a character from the story, which was a nice immersive touch.

Overall, we really enjoyed this room—the puzzles were engaging, the set design was excellent, and the experience felt unique and well executed. It’s a family-friendly game, though the puzzles might be a bit too challenging for younger children. We think it’s best suited for groups of four people. We’re happy with our performance, as we completed the room with time to spare and only asked for one hint. We liked it, and we escaped!
