Let’s Play a Game was the last room we did that day at Alcatraz Escape Rooms in Hamilton. In this scenario, you are a detective called to investigate a murder—but not just any murder. It appears to be another gruesome Jigsaw crime scene. When you arrive, however, there is more than meets the eye. There are more missing pieces than found ones, and everything becomes more complicated as you start to see a bigger picture. Be careful how deep you dig, because you may not like what you find. We are fans of the Jigsaw movies, so we were very excited—yet equally terrified—to try this game! The scenario is well detailed and has a clear goal.
The decor was very impressive. It was executed perfectly with a very high level of realism. The attention to detail was outstanding, and everything was in great shape. One room looked very similar to what we’ve seen in the movies, which really added to the immersion. We were extremely impressed by the overall set design—it felt very high quality. The room includes an actor, which makes the experience even more terrifying, although we chose to play without one. There is still one jump scare even without the actor, but it’s not too intense. The music from the movies was playing throughout the game, which helped build tension.

The puzzles were fun to solve and all related to the theme and story. It was mostly traditional locks with a few automatic mechanisms. The room is linear, but there is a lot to do and explore, so we were always busy. A couple of puzzles had multiple steps and were very well designed. We especially enjoyed all the references to the movies. Hints were given via walkie talkie.
Overall, we loved this room. The immersion was excellent, the set design was realistic and well executed, and the puzzles were very enjoyable. It is a scary room, so it’s not suitable for kids. It’s best suited for groups of 4 people. We were happy with our performance because we completed the room fairly quickly and didn’t need any hints. We loved it—and we escaped!
