The Dollhouse was the first room we tried at Trapped Burnaby! In this scenario, On the outskirts of town lies an old manor once owned by a wealthy collector. After the death of his wife, the man became a recluse, and he and his daughter vanished. Rumors spread after strange noises and mysterious disappearances began to plague the town. No one dared investigate—until now. But upon entering the house, we are subdued by the collector and wake up… somewhere unfamiliar. We liked the story: it’s mysterious, creepy, well detailed, and the goal is clear.

The set design was well done, realistic, and in good condition. It created a chilling atmosphere without relying on jump scares or actors. However, the second and third rooms didn’t feel clearly defined—they were creepy but didn’t seem like specific areas of the manor. There was an impressive special effect during the game that added a nice touch. We would have liked more decorative elements overall, as most items in the rooms were strictly puzzle-related. The music and ambiance helped with immersion, though soundproofing could have been better—we could hear noise from outside the room.

The puzzles were fun, unique, and tied in well with the theme and storyline. Most were automatic mechanisms with one lock at the beginning. We especially appreciated the creativity and the need to move back and forth between rooms to solve things—it kept us engaged. It’s a linear room, so puzzles must be solved one after the other. The number of puzzles and the level of difficulty was great. Hints were provided via walkie-talkie.

Overall, we really liked this room for its atmosphere and especially for its creative and fun puzzles. It’s likely too creepy for young kids, but teens and adults will have a great time. It’s best suited for smaller groups of 2–3 people. We’re happy with our performance—we escaped quickly and only asked for one hint. We liked it, and we escaped!
